Rising junior Jose doesn’t have many AP options at his high school, but he will not allow that fact to hold him back. Jose is extremely driven and took three AP classes on FLVS on top of his regular school schedule last semester, and he is taking more this summer. Jose was also selected to present at our annual Education Fest. He wowed the room as he spoke about social conditioning. This kind of drive can’t be taught. We know that Jose’s hard work will pay off and are committed to his success. We are so proud of you, Jose!
Rose Jacques is a junior who wants to attend UF to major in International Studies with a concentration in Japanese. She says, “Since joining Path To College I have become more organized and my procrastination habit has certainly decreased. Having a mentor to talk to is so amazing on so many levels that words can’t describe. My mentor is really cool and very easy to talk to. I get the feeling that she really cares about my accomplishments and she shows the same amount of excitement for me when I am proud of something. It’s not just the mentors that are great. The whole program and the lessons are helping me to do better, especially with my grammar and my writing. The program encourages me to reach for better heights and not settle for what is given, but to focus on what else I can achieve. I am really glad I was selected.”
“This fellowship is an amazing opportunity that I am so grateful for. WIth SAT prep and mentoring provided, I truly believe that I can succeed. This fellowship is preparing me for college and I believe this program will help me get into the school of my dreams. There are so many opportunities that have been granted to me by being part of this fellowship. We get to explore careers and work towards our future. We get to go on field trips and work towards helping the community. We work towards coming up with solutions to problems affecting our community like racial bias and standardized testing. Being in this fellowship has put me on the right track to reaching my goals.” -Sufiya
