WHAT IS CATAPULT?
We know that where kids go after school can affect where they go in life.
Catapult Youth Mentoring Center is a no-cost, after-school welcoming space for college prep, SAT help, one-on-one mentoring, career workshops, and mental health support within walking distance from Lake Worth Community High School. Opening 2026, Catapult is an expansion of a program that is working and halting generational poverty.
Young people in our community face steep barriers to success. In the area surrounding Lake Worth Community High School, 75% of households live below the poverty line, and post-secondary attainment is 32.5%. Across Palm Beach County, just 53% of students go on to college, with even lower rates for Black and Hispanic students—only 21% and 25.5%, respectively. Education is one of the most effective ways to improve lifetime earnings, but too many young people in our area lack the support to reach that goal. Catapult will provide the academic, social, and enrichment programs to help students succeed.

Only through understanding our past can we shape our future.
The foundation of Path to College and the Catapult Youth Mentoring Center is our students. Their stories are changing the narratives about what is possible for a community with the odds stacked against them. This video is a reminder that potential is universal, while opportunity is not. Please enjoy our students’ stories.
