EDfest

What is EDfest?

Students are rarely given the opportunity to step outside the four walls of their classroom and use their voice in a meaningful way. Yet, they carry powerful ideas, bold perspectives, and a desire to speak on topics that communities often avoid. This is why at EDfest, we create a platform where student voices are not only heard, but elevated.

EDfest is a thought journey. It is not centered on problem and solution, but on perspective. Students are encouraged to explore complex, philosophical ideas about society, their lived experiences, and the world around them, challenging audiences to think differently and more deeply.

The journey begins with one-minute pitches, where students share topics they feel compelled to explore. From there, selected semi-finalists expand their ideas into five-minute proposals, refining their message and strengthening their voice. These submissions are reviewed by an external panel of community judges, who select five finalists to take the stage.

At EDfest 2026, those five finalists will present their EDtalks live to a room of business leaders, educators, and community members from across Palm Beach County. Each student brings a unique perspective, inviting the audience into a new way of thinking. The evening culminates with one student being awarded a $1,000 scholarship and the title of EDtalk winner.

EDfest is also a moment to recognize the leaders who are shaping a more equitable future in education. Through our Education Champion Award, we honor an individual who goes above and beyond to expand access, elevate students, and lead with vision and purpose. Selected through a thoughtful nomination and review process, this award celebrates those who are setting the standard for what educational equity looks like in action.

This year, we are honored to welcome Dr. William Stixrud, co-author of The Self-Driven Child, as our keynote speaker. He will explore the concept of brain-friendly schools and student agency, challenging us to rethink how we create environments where students can thrive without being overwhelmed by academic pressure.

EDfest 2026 will take place on June 4, 2026, bringing together a dynamic audience of community leaders, educators, mentors, and advocates who believe in the power of student voice.

By being part of EDfest, you are doing more than attending an event. You are passing the microphone to the next generation. You are showing students that their voices matter, their ideas are worth listening to, and their perspectives have the power to shape the future.
