What is Community Impact Night?
Every student who applies to Path to College is asked a powerful question: What positive impact would you create in your community? We ask this because we believe students are not just preparing for the future, they are shaping it. They carry lived experiences, insight, and ideas that deserve to be heard, and when given the platform, they can spark real change.
From the very beginning of their journey, students are challenged to turn that vision into action. During orientation, they connect with peers who are passionate about similar issues, from education equity to mental health to community safety. Together, they form teams and begin developing a community impact proposal grounded in both problem awareness and solution-driven thinking.
Over the course of several months, students collaborate, research, and refine their ideas. They learn how to analyze complex challenges, build thoughtful solutions, and communicate their message with clarity and purpose. This process stretches them beyond the classroom, strengthening their leadership, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
Community Impact Night is the culmination of that work. In front of an audience of Palm Beach County leaders, community members, and advocates who believe deeply in student voice, each group presents their proposal with confidence and conviction. Their ideas are evaluated by an external panel of judges, including government officials and community leaders, who provide meaningful feedback and select a winning team. The winning group receives a monetary award that supports their educational journey and helps them continue pursuing their goals.
But the true impact of the evening goes far beyond the competition. Community Impact Night is a moment where students realize their voices matter. It is where they see that change is possible, and that they have the power to influence the world around them, one idea, one conversation, and one step at a time.
By attending Community Impact Night, you are doing more than showing up. You are affirming to our students that their perspectives are valuable, their ideas are needed, and their leadership has the power to move our community forward.
